Charter Jets – Automatic Pilot

This automatic pilot was installed on Wiley Post’s airplane the “Winnie Mae.” The automatic pilot’s helped Post do the first flight around the world. The gyro pilot is also worn in ships to control the rudder by corrective signals from a gyro compass. The first automatic pilot for ships was stale on the Standard Oil tanker J. A. Moffett in the early 1920′s. In ships the gyro pilot is often called the Iron Quartermaster or Metal Mike.
What the gyroscope is today actually is a mechanical arrangement which seems to defy the force of gravity. A gyroscope is sometimes called a gyro, is basically a spinning wheel mounted on a challenging frame. A toy gyroscope can develop truly fabulous tricks!
